Best Jeans for Curves: AE
Finding comfortable jeans can be a pain in the butt…. Or not.
When you are curvy with a big butt, jeans can be a bit tricky to find. Having a large butt often means sizing up, which means the waist would often be way too big. When I buy my size, they are often too tight on the thighs or make my butt look squished in.
Growing up I always had a curvy figure and low rise jeans used to do the trick. I have since moved on to mid rise and high rise jeans. I enjoy this style since it seems to hit just right on the waist allowing me to tuck in my tops as much, or as little as I care to. However, as I got curvier since moving to the USA and even more so during quarantine, jeans no longer fit or feel the same!
I tried leggings and different types of jeggings but they felt very thin, flimsy and sometimes did not look like jeans at all. I also found that they hugged too closely at the knees, giving away that it was jeggings and NOT jeans.
I was so used to the idea of not finding jeans (in my size) at regular retailers so when my friend stopped into American Eagle to find cut off denim shorts, I casually looked around. I was surprised to find the wide range of sizes that was on display, all in one section of the shop. It was not separated by regular size and ‘plus size’ which made me feel included. Even the pictures of the models were diverse.
I scooped up a couple of their high waisted jeans and headed to the dressing rooms. I tried a few options. Some were too big and others just perfect. This is the American Eagle outfitters NE(X)T LEVEL STRETCH in size 16. They retail for USD $59.95. They have sales very often though, so it might be a good idea to wait for a sale!

The distressed style was done perfectly. You can find options that are even more distressed or not distressed at all.
I purchased a few of these jeans and wore this easy going outfit on this warm fall day. You can find these jeans without the distressing, but I like the casual vibe that they give. I really enjoyed how comfortable these jeans are. They fit perfectly on the waist without squishing my butt. Bonus, they do not have that strange uncomfortable pull between the legs. For the quality, these jeans are inexpensive and durable. These jeans feel and look amazing and I would recommend you trying them if you have a curvy figure.
