Best Facial Mask for Sensitive Skin?

Chantecaille Hibiscus Smoothing Mask

On a quest for the best facial mask for sensitive skin? I tried the Chantecaille Hibiscus Smoothing Mask for the first time yesterday on my congested, eczema-prone, sensitive-leaning, moody skin. Click here to see the application.

Truth is, I haven’t been doing more than cleansing, moisturizing, and protecting (with SPF) for the past couple of weeks. My skin was looking dull and feeling rough and congested. It was the perfect time to try this CHANTECAILLE Hibiscus Smoothing mask.

The Packaging

The packaging feels luxurious with a frosted glass tub.  If the packaging is a big deal to you, you will love this extra luxe feel. The texture is creamy and smooth. It has a light, clean, bright floral scent.

The Claims

This mask promises to gently re-texturize your skin and leave it feeling smooth, looking radiant and clear.  I am usually hesitant to try re-texturizing products since my skin often has a negative reaction to such products since I am eczema-prone. I tested this mask on my neck first before jumping right in to use it on my face.

Application

When I applied the smoothing mask to my face, it felt more like a gel moisturizer than a mask. The light texture caught me off guard. I layered the mask generously with a mask spatula. I left it on for 5 minutes then used a Lukewarm wet washcloth to ‘sponge’ it off. (I’ll be investing in a face sponge soon. I’m pretty sure the washcloth may be too rough on the skin to remove this product.)

Did it work?

Immediately after removing the mask, I saw that my skin was a little red. I rinsed my face with cool water and patted it dry. Straight away, I noticed my skin was much brighter and looked, well, radiant. I bounced my fingers against my cheek and was very impressed. I can see myself reaching for this mask frequently. Overall, I give this mask a 5/5.
