Fenty Beauty New Powder Foundation

This Powder Foundation launch from Fenty Beauty came on time. Since wearing a mask is popular and mandatory in a lot of places, wearing makeup that will not transfer has become even more desirable. This is one great advantage of powder foundation: The reduction of transfer. Another advantage is the natural finish and the ability to reapply. Let’s get into this new release from Fenty Beauty. I’ll cover:

What it is.

What is it?

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Powder Foundation is a pressed powder foundation that offers a soft matte finish with medium/buildable coverage. It is cruelty-free and free of gluten, parabens, and phthalates. It promises not to clog pores, settle into fine lines and it is flashback resistant.

Packaging.

This powder foundation vessel is different from all other compacts from Fenty Beauty because of how thick it is. Its plastic shell is white and octagon-shaped, holding the compressed powder foundation with the distinguishable ‘FB’ imprinted in the powder. The casing for the powder itself is a pinkish chrome colour on a non-detachable hinge that can be flipped up to reveal a white, flat, octagon-shaped sponge. Because of the chrome finish of the powder’s casing, it can also be used as a mirror.

How to use it

Because powder foundations are not as popular as liquid foundations (at least in social media) the application process is worth noting. Today, I applied my regular skin routine of using a hydrating toner, serum, moisturizer, and SPF. You can follow with either a hydrating or mattifying primer based on your skin needs. I skipped the primer and applied this foundation with the Fenty Beauty (170) Setting Brush or you can use the Kabuki Buff Brush. The Setting Brush will offer you light coverage due to its looser bristles. Conversely, the Kabuki Brush will offer fuller coverage because the bristles are more condensed. You can use the sponge to touch up.

For maximum coverage, you can use the Pro Filt’r Liquid Foundation first then use this powder foundation on top.

Did it work for me?

My skin type is combination/ dehydrated and I skipped using a primer. Right away I noticed that this foundation shade matched me exactly, as I had to look and examine where the foundation was after the first stroke of the brush. The foundation feels extremely lightweight and I observed a tiny amount of transfer. I also used this to set my concealer which worked well, but not as well as if I used the Fenty Beauty Setting powder. I layered Fenty Beauty Cream Blush, Contour Skinstick before applying the powder and Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter on top of the foundation. I immediately noticed that the foundation did not bunch or grab. The blush and foundation went on evenly. I found the foundation easy to apply and I did not notice any scent coming from it. I pressed a sheet of paper on my face after wearing this foundation for 5 hours and this is the transfer. My skin is very textured. While I did not witness any significant blurring, I did notice that this foundation did not sink into my fine lines even after 5 hours of wear.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried a powder foundation before and if you will be trying this one.
